There were differences in how my education and lifestyle was structured in Spain and in the United States. In the U.S, cars or walking is the main mode of transportation to class for me. However, in Spain, the train system was the easiest way for me to travel. The way people ate was also very different than in America. In America, we rush our meals which is why fast food places are very common. However, in Spain, food is seen to be enjoyed for longer. People tend to stay at restaurants for at least 2 hours to enjoy their experience. Healthcare in Spain is universal and free, but it is very hard to make appointments or reach a professional. However, in the U.S, the idea is different since healthcare is more expensive, but it is easier to reach doctors in times of emergency. In Malaga, the city was very clean with little to no trash on the streets, fresh air, and clean roads that were washed every night. However, in Pittsburgh, the environmental health is not taken care of well due to the trash on the roads, pollution, and lack of care of nature. This is important since environmental health plays a large role in affecting the personal health of humans. Overall, the priorities of both countries are very different. The U.S is very focused on growing the economy and capitalism which plays a role in how healthcare is structured. In Spain, people are focused on their own personal growth rather than their nation’s, which allows for people to take care of themselves and rely on the government for their personal care.
