Guten Tag! My name is Ava Hartman and I am a rising junior majoring in Industrial Engineering. Outside of my major, I am involved with several arts organizations on campus and I am a member of Phi Sigma Rho. I look forward to soon embarking on my trip to Munich for the “Engineering the German Way” program!
During this program, I will have the opportunity to go on several site visits for different companies, and I will be attending lectures at HM Munich. We will be working in teams with students from HM Munich to complete projects utilizing a variety of engineering concepts and business models. As an industrial engineering student, many assignments on this trip utilize concepts that I have been learning. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to see some of these concepts in real-world environments, and in a different culture! It’s incredibly beneficial to have the opportunity to explore a new perspective when it comes to growing my own understanding of engineering concepts and how they can be used.
I have also developed an interest in the Supply Chain Management Certificate, and I believe that this program will give me a clear overview of that area of study. Additionally, I am interested in pursuing an MBA in the future, and this program will provide me with different engineering perspectives in addition to different business perspectives. Overall, I know that the subject matter that is covered will effectively build upon my prior knowledge of industrial engineering.
I look forward to exploring a new culture and gaining new perspectives personally and academically. I am so excited to begin this journey, and I look forward to sharing my experiences!
