Nice to meet you! My name is Marlisse, a rising senior on the Pre-PA Natural Sciences track. I am currently in the beginning stages of my internship at King’s College Hospital in London. I chose this experience for a multitude of reasons. Still, it really boils down to a few: I want to learn the differences between our healthcare systems, gain clinical insight and administrative experience, and spend the summer in London with my sister and friends!

I have already spent a substantial amount of time in this city because my sister has lived here for two years, so my expectations were already high regarding culture, etc.
My roommates and I have explored the city while shopping, going to pubs and clubs, and wandering the museums. We even met Joe Locke!

However, the hospital system was more of a mystery to me. My sister has been a patient at King’s College Hospital and shared her experience with me. It led me to have a preconceived notion of the establishment. In my first week here, though, it has already proven itself worthy. The staff here are driven, caring, and empathetic. I am really looking forward to working for and alongside them for the rest of the summer. The trauma staff even brought us two interns up to the helipad on day one!

I hope you’re as excited to follow along on my journey as I am to go on it. Talk to you soon!
