Ever since I returned from my trip to Lisbon, I have been reflecting on many lessons I learned. I came to Lisbon to study abroad, but some of the most valuable takeaways happened outside of the classroom. Whether it was in cafes, markets, or even at crosswalks.
One of the things Lisbon has taught me is to slow down. At home, my schedule is often packed, always having to do one thing after another. In Lisbon, life moved at a different pace. Conversations are not rushed, and people are present with each other. It was so refreshing to see people bringing intentionality into life. It reminded me to think, reflect, and connect with the people around me.

Living on my own in a foreign country has also pushed me to adjust to the way of life. From navigating an unfamiliar transit system to something as simple as crossing the street. Lisbon constantly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I found myself doing things I have never done back home. During my time at Pitt and in my personal life, I will carry this adaptability in any changes and challenges that I may face.
There are many other lessons that I took back with me. Many of these lessons will not only shape my academic career but also the way I live after graduation.
