Hello! My name is Madeline.
I will be studying abroad for the academic year at Trinity College Dublin. While planning to study abroad, I decided to go for a full year so I could feel like a “real” student and seriously get involved with clubs. I had been deciding between TCD and London School of Economics and Political Science. Even though I love political science, my major, I decided not to go to a specialized school so I could have more choice. This semester, I plan to take classes in the psychology and immunology departments, something I wouldn’t normally do.
During my orientation here, I learned that students don’t socialize in class, and clubs (“societies”) are where people make friends. I found a volunteer society that volunteers with vulnerable populations like adults experiencing homelessness that I’m excited to get involved with. I’m looking forward to the first meeting!
Putting academics aside, I am so excited for the opportunities that will come with living in Europe. For example, attending concerts and traveling! I got very lucky and was able to attend the Eras Tour in London before starting my program. One of my favorite authors will be doing a book talk in Dublin, and it’s only a mile away from my apartment. I’m excited for all of the new experiences I will have throughout the year.
