Ciao tutti!

My name is Isabella Spena. I am a junior and a part of the Frederick Honors College and the College of Business Administration. In terms of academics, I major in accounting and have minors in law, criminal justice, society, and Italian studies. Professionally, I have experience auditing for Accounting/Advisory Firms, but I am looking to pursue Business Law as my future career! 

In a few days, I will head to Florence, Italy, to join the Global Business Institute program. I chose this program in hopes of getting internship experience abroad. Although an internship is not guaranteed, I am happy to announce that I will be interning at an Intellectual Property Law Firm in Florence for the semester! Through this program, I hope to gain tangible law experience and embrace Italian culture. I think actually working in law might give me more perspective of what area of business law I want to venture into. Beyond my internship, I am excited to immerse myself in the Italian culture and way of life. Living in Italy is something I have dreamed of doing since I could talk because of my own Italian heritage. My grandparents immigrated from Sicily in the late 1960s. Therefore, I grew up in a house filled with deep Italian roots. I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to experience the culture I have grown to love in my home and through my studies in its actual birthplace.

I look forward to increasing my fluency in the language abroad as well. I have been studying the Italian language here at Pitt for the past year and a half, and it excites me that I will be able to truly immerse myself in the language over the next few months.
