I’m very excited to be headed to Munich for hopefully the most exciting Maymester of my life! I’m writing this from the airport to maximize my enthusiasm (only the best for my dear blog post readers!) I’m participating in the Pitt in Munich 5-week study abroad experience and I am so excited! I have never been outside of the US or Canada, so this will be a big leap for me!

I just completed my first-year at Pitt, and I am majoring in biological sciences and German on a pre-med track! I am also hopefully going to be getting certificates in conceptual foundations of medicine and global health, with minors in linguistics and chemistry. Outside of my academic life, I love to sing and make music (I am a soprano in the Heinz Chapel Choir!) and cook or bake. I like to learn languages and learn about foreign culture, and I hope to apply this passion to be a passionate and caring doctor in the future. It has always been a life-long dream of mine to be well-traveled and a citizen of the world, so I cannot wait to start that journey now.

As far as what I hope to get out of this trip, on the most basic level, I hope to improve my German language skills! I am a German major, but I had no experience with the language prior to beginning college, and I think the best way to learn will always be through immersion! Personally, I also hope that this trip will teach me important lessons about how to be more spontaneous and flexible, as I do not tend to do well with lots of changes. Overall, I think it is going to be an unforgettable experience that I cannot wait to share stories from!
You’ll be hearing more from me!
