Prague and Krakow Await! Get to Know Jake

Hi everyone! My name is Jake Rosen and I’m a pre-law student studying economics and political science. I just wrapped up my junior year and I can’t wait to fly off to Prague and then Krakow for the Comparative Economics of Central Europe program! I’m planning to go to law school after the conclusion of my undergraduate education, but in the meantime I’m super excited to be able to pursue opportunities such as this trip!

As a huge history buff and someone highly interested in politics, this program offers an exciting chance to learn about the political and economic developments that advanced in Central Europe following World War II. Visiting these two countries is a great chance to learn about the topics the trips boasts considering that Poland was at the center of the war, and the Czech Republic, more specifically Prague itself, was largely untouched by the war. I hope to gain accurate knowledge of how war can have reverberating effects throughout the region decades after it ends.

On a personal level, I am interested in the chance to tour the Jewish quarter of Prague as well as Auschwitz. As a proud Jewish student, exploring these two sites have always been high on my list, as history of the prosperity of my people, as well as the horrors we have experienced could be a true teaching experience.

I will be posting more about my experiences going forward, so stay tuned as I expect this trip to be as educational and fun as it is exciting!
