I can’t believe that I am already done with two weeks of my eight week study abroad. I have been so lucky to do so much and learn so much in the last two weeks.

My first day in London I was able to do the Hop on Hop off bus tour which was my favorite way to see the city and do all the major sightseeing. Although I have been to London before, seeing the Big Ben, London Eye, and Tower Bridge was still so amazing. The architecture and things to see in London are beautiful and endless. We ended our night in China town where I was able to get some incredible food.

The first day of my internship was nerve-racking, however, once I met my supervisors and learned more about the projects we were going to be doing I quickly became excited. I am working on job planning for the pharmacy department, and over the last two weeks I have gotten the opportunity to shadow 10 pharmacy departments, along with 3 to 4 other clinicians. These experiences are so insightful and fun. I said that I wanted to learn about the difference in the healthcare systems between London and the United States, and I can safely say I learn something new everyday. I have learned about the NHS, King’s College Hospital, and the staff here have helped me understand the differences between the US and here. I am currently working on a presentation, creating a survey which I will later analyze, and a project proposal. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work on these projects and can’t wait to see what the next six weeks hold in terms of my internship.

Over the last two weeks, I have traveled to Notting Hill and Cambridge. Both places were so amazing to see and so vastly different. In Notting Hill it was fun to walk around the shopping streets, and eat amazing pasta. In Cambridge I was able to go punting, where I was able to see the eight private universities, and nine bridges. The history along our punting tour was so interesting to learn about because I didn’t know that Cambridge had such a rich history.

Additionally, I was also able to learn more about world history by visiting the British Museum. My favorite thing I saw was definitely the Rosetta Stone, because I have learned about its significance so many times, that it was very special to be able to see the stone myself.
I hope that I continue to explore and learn from the hospital and my internship. Additionally, I am excited to spend the next few weeks exploring London with my new friends!
