For this global experience, I am excited to widen both my growing professional network with those both within and outside my chosen area of study, as well as develop a more multifaceted view on any traditional schooling I have had up until now. The program provides a unique opportunity for myself as a pre-law student to regularly interact and work with students outside my chosen discipline, such as engineering and material science. These students contribute a unique perspective on the same problems I may be faced with and may approach such problems from a different angle. Many of the concepts we are learning about on the trip, such as sustainability and green living, are not limited to a single discipline. Engaging and learning about the regular practices of such companies will let me hear about how others with a different educational background may approach the same problem as me in a different way and how I can use my understanding to widen the perspectives of others as well. I am also personally interested in learning about how varying fields more commonly interact with one another than I may have otherwise thought, and how it really takes everyone to work together towards common goals, such as efficiency, sustainability, and a more clean environment. I am excited to dive deeper into the many activities we have planned these next two weeks here in the Netherlands and cannot wait to use what I will learn here in more areas in my time at Pitt!
