Hi everyone! My name is Nina Gralewski-Goel and I am a junior at the University of Pittsburgh! I am a Biological Science major with minors in Studio Arts and Chemistry. I hope to attend medical school after graduation. I am also pursuing a certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. I am the current Vice President of the Women in Surgery Empowerment Club (WISE) and the Education Chair of Phi Delta Epsilon. I have worked in Cellular Biology Research at the medical school and I am currently involved in Public Health Research at the School of Public Health. I am also a Patient Care Assistant at UPMC Presbyterian.

I have recently arrived in Seville, Spain for my spring semester. Given the academic and extracurricular requirements of pre-medical studies, I was not sure I would be able to study abroad for a full semester. Luckily, I was able to complete some classes and requirements early allowing me to spend the next three and a half months in Spain!
I am studying Contemporary Hispanic Studies through AIFS at the University of Seville. During this program, I will be taking courses in English and Spanish. These courses range from Spanish language and culture to watercolor and anatomy. I will be working towards completing my Studio Art minor while also continuing my pre-medical studies. I chose this program to improve my Spanish in a country with incredible arts and a diverse cultural history. Seville is a product of Muslim, Jewish, and Catholic influences. The architecture, food, and people represent a diverse and incredible history. It is smaller than Madrid and Barcelona, though it is still a large city. This gives the sunny city a more personal feel while still having more than enough to see and explore. I am additionally looking forward to learning about health sciences and cuisine in a different country. I have an interest in preventative medical care. I am excited to see how different countries approach the ideas of “health” especially when it comes to diet, physical exercise, and other aspects of the culture.
I look forward to sharing my experience with everyone,
Nos vemos!
