Hello, everyone!

I’m Tatiana, a senior majoring in History and Anthropology with Certificates in African, Mediterranean, and Latin American Studies. I also serve as a European Studies Center Ambassador and a Portuguese Teaching Assistant. Outside of class, you can usually find me reading, binge-watching reality TV, or learning new languages.

In late August, I arrived in Menton, France, for a semester at SciencePo’s Mediterranean and Middle Eastern campus. Given my academic focus on this region, it felt like the ideal opportunity to enhance both my geographical and linguistic skills. From the moment I arrived, it was clear I wasn’t in Kansas—or better yet, Pitt—anymore. SciencePo’s campus sits perched above the stunning blue Mediterranean and the vibrant houses of Menton.

This past month has been full of new experiences: learning the ins and outs of the French education system, spontaneous trips to Italy (since Menton is right on the border!), meeting people from all over the world, and volunteering at a local NGO supporting immigrants and refugees. The Côte d’Azur has definitely kept me busy!

Though I’m halfway through the program, I feel like I’ve only just begun to explore all that this place has to offer. My days are filled with laughter, making new friends who feel like family, blending French and Italian during grocery trips, and trying to figure out where my midterms are! Most of all, I’m learning how to truly savor each moment here.

As I continue my journey here in Menton, I’m excited to dive deeper into the rich culture, history, and everyday life of this unique region. Whether it’s through engaging with my classes, exploring the beautiful landscapes, or connecting with people from around the globe, I’m constantly learning and growing in ways I never expected. I can’t wait to share more of these experiences with you all soon!
