Hi! My name is Junyoung Hur, class of 2026. I am a Biology major and am triple minoring in Chemistry, Korean, and Studio Arts. I am Epsilon Eta Delta’s Diversity and Inclusion Chair, an Environmental Academic Honors Society. When not studying or in classes, I enjoy going on runs, posting on my blog, and bleach-painting clothing. Over the summer, I studied at Seoul National University in their International Summer Program.
I selected Seoul National University due to its international academic prestige, as well as its location, being South Korea. During the 4 week long summer semester of classes, I took two courses, Traditional Korean Music and Culture and Upper Advanced Korean Language. Not only would these courses provide my required credits to complete my Korean Minor, but I would also be able to learn more about South Korea through an academic lens. In my study abroad, I most looked forward to seeing my family again, as it has been many years since I’ve last seen my little cousins, aunts, and uncles. Besides being able to reconnect and spend time with my extended family, I anticipated being able to experience a globalized melting pot of a variety of cultures, excited to meet the people who also came to Seoul to experience something new and unique.
