Halfway Through Korea!

Hi everyone!

I am just a little over three weeks into my summer program here in South Korea and it has been so, so much fun!

Overall, I am very glad that I have the privilege of studying abroad here at Yonsei University. Being immersed in Korean society and culture has given me new perspectives and innumerable experiences. My fellow classmates are from all over the world, which has helped me learn Australian slang and how to use Konglish (mixing Korean and English). Sinchon (Yonsei’s neighborhood) is a popular area, full of college campuses, diverse people, and trendy stores. Much like Pittsburgh, there is always something to do here.

I spend most of my days (Monday through Thursday) in my three classes. My dorm is on the very edge (and top) of campus. Unfortunately, this means that I hike 20+ minutes every day up a hill that rivals Cardiac Hill. After class and over our three day weekends, we are free to explore Seoul and beyond. I love being able to hop onto the bus to visit museums, new restaurants, and themed cafes after class. My weekend trips have included the DMZ (the border between North and South Korea) and a 3-day excursion to Osaka and Kyoto!

Being able to spend these 3 weeks in Korea has been wonderful. I have met so many people from all over the world and I am excited for the remainder of my trip!
