Hi! My name is Ruchita Jegan and I will soon be a second year at the University of Pittsburgh studying Microbiology with a certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. I am about to embark on my study abroad experience in Paris, France on the program “Culture through Literature in Paris.” I will be abroad in Paris for the full month of May and I am so excited to live amongst a new culture and learn more about the historical significance of Parisian literature.
I always knew that I would want to study abroad during my time in college, and Paris has always been a dream destination for me. I decided to apply to this program because it would allow me to explore my love for literature, something that I don’t think I will have much time to do on campus with my major’s courses. I was ecstatic when I found out that I would be given the opportunity to study abroad (just after my first year!) in the city of Paris. Time has flown by and now I depart in just one day.
I have learned French language and culture for about 6 years prior to Pitt, so I am most excited to use the skills I have adopted and further improve them in Paris. I am also looking forward to experiencing cultural differences in various areas of the city such as in the food, fashion, communication, and general way of life. I think I will learn and grow a lot from this program. I will keep you updated on my adventures in Paris!
