Hi everyone my name is Gal Yovel and I will be studying abroad in India through the Himalayan Health program! I just finished my junior year and I am majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry, a certificate in conceptual foundations of medicine and a distinction in sustainability. I am leaving for India in a few days and am super excited for the journey!
I am really interested in sustainability and medicine, making this program the perfect fit for the Mountain and Medicine class I will be completing throughout the program. The Mountain and Medicine course discusses how the environment and the economy can impact public health. In addition to this course, we will also be engaging in a wilderness first responder course. As a current EMT, this course will help enhance my ability to care for patients while increasing my breadth of knowledge.
As an avid hiker, I am really excited to hike during the program and explore the beautiful Himalayan mountains. Additionally I am excited to learn about the diverse cultures within India and explore various cities around India. I am super grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program and look forward to posting about all the amazing things we will be doing!
