My Goals for the Semester in London

I have many varying goals that I have set for myself in preparation for coming to London. This is because I have always been somewhat of a planner, I need to write things down to ensure that I accomplish them. There is something about handwriting your hopes and dreams that makes them come true. At least for me.

Some personal goals I have are to explore as many places in London as possible. This includes all the classic touristy spots like Buckinghamn Palace, the London Eye, the Big Ben, the Tower of London, China Town, and many other spots. I also have a running list of restaurants, bakeries, and museums that I have been curating from social media recommendations. So hopefully I can hit a couple of those places on my list as well. It is fascinating to think that I have been watching all these videos and that now I am here and passing places that I recognize from videos.

Additionally, I will be starting my internship next week, which is extremely nerve wracking. I have not had an in person internship experience yet so I do not know what to expect. Luckily, last semester I did participate in a fully remote internship through the Frederick Honors College. So that prepared me for how to communicate and act in a professional space, even if it is online. However, I am really excited to be working at a relatively young tech start up. I hope that I will be able to successfully complete my internship and learn a lot from it. Also, I hope I can get to know the marketing team I am working with and form lasting connections with them.

As for my academic goals, I hope to learn a lot about the intersection between London and the classes that I am taking. I am especially excited for my detective fiction and global exploration classes because the syllabuses seemed super interesting. Also, I am excited for the field studies to very unique spots in London that I probably would have passed by without a second thought. I hope to complete all my tasks on time and pass all my classes with high scores.
