Hello everyone! My name is Lindsey, and I am so excited to be writing to you all from London! I am originally from outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County. I am currently a junior at Pitt majoring in Marketing and pursuing certificates in International Business and Leadership and Ethics. On campus I am involved in Women in Business, Delta Sigma Pi (a professional business fraternity), and the Chinese American Student Association. I have also been fortunate enough to be a marketing intern with Pitt Eats, a summer intern with Bolt Public Relations, and this upcoming summer I will be interning with JP Morgan Chase.
I have chosen to go aboard through the GBI London program in hopes of growing personally, academically, and professionally. I have always loved traveling with my family, and it has always been a dream of mine to study abroad, especially after participating in a French exchange program in high school. As a well-known global hub for business, the London program excited me because I would love the opportunity to see first-hand how all the different fields of business work together in a large diverse city. Additionally, as one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world, I am thrilled to be able to immerse myself into new cultures and experience different ways of business in this unique English-speaking city.
While abroad I will be taking courses towards completing my International Business Certificate, courses related to my major, and courses to learn more about the city of London. I am excited to not only experience all the different aspects and functions of international business but also gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of other cultures and their environments. I think that studying abroad in London will allow me to become more culturally immersed in the world of business, as there is such a large and diverse population here. I believe that in today’s business world it is vital to develop an understanding of different cultural perspectives and demonstrate an awareness of new cultures and their values. I hope that through this program I will be able to explore new cultures and better understand their role in the business world.
All in all, London seemed like the perfect destination for me as it offers a balance of diverse educational opportunities as well as cultural experiences, thus I am very excited to continue sharing my journey with you all this semester!
That’s it for now!
