Elisabeth is off to Florence!

Ciao! My name is Elisabeth Ko and I just finished my sophomore year at Pitt. I am majoring in Psychology on the Pre-Physician Assistant track and pursuing a certificate in Bioethics. On campus I am involved in Ballet Club, Asian Student Alliance, and the Pre-PA Association, to name a few organizations. I’m also working on my EMT certification!

I am so excited to participate in Pitt’s “Exploring Art in Florence” program this summer! I have always loved the fine arts so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to study Renaissance art in the birthplace of the Renaissance. It is difficult to find time to dedicate to the arts during my busy school year, so I look forward to slowing down and re-learning how to create art in Florence. I’ll be taking classes on Renaissance art history and oil painting with the other students in my program and I’m excited to learn about the great art of the past and create some art of my own!

I hope to gain more cultural perspective and appreciation of the arts during my time in Florence. I have never been to Europe or traveled with other students before, so I am looking forward to trying new things and experiencing Italy! I am also excited to eat (and cook) some delicious Italian food and visit the opera and ballet in Florence. I can’t wait to share my experience through this blog!

Arrivederci 🙂
