Kamila’s Journey to Senegal!!

Hello! I’m Kamila Dominguez, a rising junior at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m eager to embark on the next chapter of my academic journey through the university’s study abroad program in Senegal.

The West African nation offers a rich tapestry of history and diverse cultures. I look forward to exploring its historical sites and immersing myself in the French language. I’ll be sure to share my thoughts and experiences as I navigate through this program.

My decision to attend the University of Pittsburgh stemmed from their renowned business program and the opportunity to broaden my academic horizons beyond my California roots. Balancing a major in accounting with a certificate in public and professional writing reflects my commitment to well-rounded learning. My ambitions extend beyond the classroom. I envision myself pursuing a career in law, particularly focusing on immigration law as a means to positively impact the lives of others.

At Pitt, I have developed a sense of purpose and community through my involvement in the Social Change Research Hub and the Women in Business club. These experiences have allowed me to develop valuable connections and hone essential skills like networking, all part of the university’s comprehensive educational approach. Outside of my academic pursuits, I find enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life, such as quality time with loved ones, engaging literature, and even adventurous activities.

My decision to study abroad in Senegal was driven by a deep curiosity and a desire for cultural immersion. My goal is to emerge from this program with fluency in French and a firm foundation in Wolof, the language spoken by the Senegalese people. As my departure nears, excitement fills me. In just a few days, I’ll embark on a transformative journey, one filled with discovery, personal growth, and boundless opportunity. I’m eager to share how my worldview has developed and expanded through the connections I’ve made.
